Job Description
Anoka-Ramsey Community College is seeking an unlimited, full-time Earth Science faculty member. This faculty member will teach multiple transfer-level courses intended for non-science majors, including, for example, Oceanography, Geology, and/or Meteorology. The successful candidate will support the goals of the Natural Sciences department by creating an inclusive and welcoming learning environment and promoting student success in all course formats.
ARCC has a strong commitment to innovative, active, student-centered teaching practices. The successful candidate will practice continuous improvement through ongoing content- and pedagogy-related professional development and will work collaboratively with colleagues in service to the department, division, and college.
It is expected that the successful candidate will teach in a variety of formats, such as in-person, online asynchronous, and hybrid. This faculty member may teach courses associated with both campuses in Cambridge and Coon Rapids, but the primary teaching responsibilities will be at the Coon Rapids campus. This position is assigned to the Earth Science credential field. Graduate coursework in related areas may be considered in-field for Earth Science.
Salary Range
Full-time faculty salaries are based on an evaluation of education and related experience after a job offer has been accepted and currently range from $51,303 -$94,592. Full-time faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits including health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, short and long-term disability, paid personal and sick leave, retirement savings plans, tuition waiver for employees and dependents, professional development funds, along with many optional benefit programs. Please note, Initial Step Placement is established by the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) contract which sets limitations to the initial salary of a new faculty member. This may differ from the maximum salary range in this posting. For more information, please visit the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF) and the State of Minnesota. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement: Master's degree with a major in Earth Science or with 27 graduate quarter/18 semester credits in earth science that would apply to the major.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience, formal or informal, in Oceanography, Geology, and/or Meteorology
- Experience with, or a strong interest in, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for non-STEM majors in introductory-level Natural Science courses
- Experience with, or a strong interest in, using student-centered teaching and learning practices to improve student success in a variety of course formats, including in-person, online asynchronous, and hybrid
- Demonstrated commitment to the success of diverse student populations including, for example, multicultural and Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) students, non-traditional students, non-native speakers of English, students with disabilities, first-generation college students, and others
- Demonstrated success working collaboratively with others, for example, within the classroom, department, broader college community, and/or other professional collaborations
