Job Summary:
We are seeking an Employee Relations Consultant to join the Employee Relations and Performance Team within Central Human Resources at the CU Anschutz Campus. This position serves as a consultative partner to faculty and staff by providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, and compliance-related matters, contributing to a positive and effective workplace environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acts as a consultant by providing campus-wide consulting on performance management processes, communication and training.
- Work with unit leadership to ensure best practices with respect to performance management, employee relations and employee development.
- Conduct workplace investigations as needed/necessary.
- Provide strategic and practical insight and counsel to unit management on performance management, to include goal setting, coaching, evaluation and progressive discipline
- Work with unit leaders to resolve employee relations issues, provide counsel to unit leaders on organizational changes.
- Consulting with assigned schools, colleges and departments on constructive methods, processes, applicable federal, state and Regent laws/regulations (including FLMA and FLSA)
- Providing options for resolving conflicts and improving work relationships and the work environment.
- Guiding and advising managers and HR partners in assigned units on employee relations matters, including resolving performance issues.
- Consulting with assigned departments on the annual performance evaluation processes.
- Perform other duties, tasks, and projects assigned.
Work Location: Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of two days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Intermediate Professional
Bachelor's degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 1 year of professional experience
Senior Professional
Bachelor's degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 2 years of professional experience.
Principal Professional
Bachelor's degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution and 3-5 years of professional experience
Substitution
A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience providing HR support directly to executive-level positions.
- Master's degree in human resources management, public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field

- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer-sponsored work authorization.
- Work a Hybrid Schedule: On-campus presence is required for a minimum of 2 days in the HR office suite.
- Work standard office hours 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Sit or stand for extended periods while working in office settings.
- Use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, virtual meeting tools, and filing systems.
- The ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and regulations in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource challenges.
- Knowledge of the professional standards, concepts, and practices of recruitment and selection, employee relations, or organizational development and human resource policy.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including public speaking.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Thorough knowledge of current management and leadership methods and best practices.
