About the role
Deakin isn't just adopting AI – we're building it. With Deakin GEM now live and our AI Factory, a multi disciplinary squad, accelerating capability across the institution, ambitious work is underway across multiple streams.
As an Enterprise Architect you will provide expert strategic advice on the design, integration and optimisation of technology solutions across the University. This is a high-impact leadership role at the centre of university-wide digital transformation.

You will:
Set the direction for enterprise architecture practices and frameworks
Lead integration of physical and digital infrastructure to create seamless, customer-centric experiences
Modernise legacy systems while ensuring scalability, security and long-term sustainability
Influence senior leaders and shape strategic decision-making
Drive innovation while balancing governance, compliance and risk
About you
You will bring strong analytical and conceptual capability, with a track record of diagnosing complex problems and delivering practical, innovative solutions. High-level project management, research and reporting expertise are essential, along with experience leading collaborative, high-performing teams focused on service excellence and continuous improvement.
You’ll demonstrate:
Proven experience designing and delivering contemporary enterprise architecture strategies, solutions and services that enable organisational objectives
Strong knowledge of current enterprise architecture frameworks, governance and best practice
Vision for enterprise-wide AI adoption and maturity models
Experience establishing/contributing AI governance, ethics, and compliance frameworks
Understanding of AI/ML platforms and when to build vs. buy
Knowledge of data strategy to support AI initiatives
Ability to adapt the AI direction into the maturity of the enterprise
Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive partnerships internally and externally
Sound judgement, influencing capability and adaptability in navigating change and competing priorities
Highly developed consulting, communication and presentation skills
