- This is a full-time continuing position with salary in the range $117,958 - $132,247 (HEW 8), plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%.

About This Opportunity
As Executive Officer, you will act as a trusted strategic partner to the Deputy Vice‑Chancellor (Global Engagement) and the Director, Office of the DVC(GE). Operating within a small, high‑performing senior executive office, you will contribute to an environment that values efficiency, sound judgement, discretion, and a proactive approach. The Global Engagement portfolio spans a broad and fast‑moving remit, with work often characterised by short timeframes and competing priorities. The office functions with a high level of efficiency, requiring a self‑directed professional who can confidently interpret high‑level direction and independently drive work through to completion.
This position will particularly suit a highly capable executive support professional who understands the nuances of senior leadership environments and is committed to delivering high‑quality outcomes that support the University’s global ambitions.
Key responsibilities will include:
Strategic Advisory & Reporting
- Prepare high level briefings, presentations, and submissions that include complex information into clear, actionable insights for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Director.
Strategic Project Leadership
- Lead and manage end to end strategic initiatives, coordinating expertise across various UQ functions to deliver on high priority institutional objectives.
Governance & Operational Excellence
- Oversee portfolio governance processes and committees, ensuring executive decisions are tracked and implemented with speed and accuracy.
Stakeholder Diplomacy & Networking
- Act as a central interface for the Office, maintaining influential relationships across the university and external networks to facilitate seamless communication and ensure the successful delivery of strategic projects.
About You
The ideal candidate is a proactive team player who thrives in a fast paced environment and possesses a deep understanding of the complexities of a senior executive office. You are a resilient troubleshooter with a customer-service mindset and the professional maturity to handle sensitive matters with total discretion.
- Degree (or equivalent qualifications and/or experience), with significant experience supporting senior executives within a large, complex organisation (International Higher Education experience is highly regarded).
- Proven ability to lead large, complex projects and activities, ensuring effective planning, governance, documentation and reporting are delivered.
- Demonstrated capacity for independent judgement and solving complex problems involving competing priorities and partner-stakeholder interests.
- Exceptional written and oral skills, with the ability to influence decision making whilst building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
