The Opportunity

The UNSW Energy Institute within the Faculty of Engineering, UNSW, is seeking a Project Officer to support the Institute’s leadership team in delivering high-impact initiatives that advance Australia’s energy transition. The Institute brings together a diverse community of researchers and partners to drive innovation in energy research, technology development, and policy. This is a high-trust, complex and varied role requiring a highly organised and proactive professional who can provide executive and project support, manage complex priorities, and engage effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Working closely with the CEO, you will play a key role in enabling the Institute’s research community and supporting activities that drive meaningful outcomes in energy innovation and collaboration.

This role reports to the CEO of the UNSW Energy Institute and has no direct reports.

Skills & Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including spreadsheets, text editors and publication software, and basic familiarity with statistical and mapping software and software development tools as related to the project objectives.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Project experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
