Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the Orientation and Transition Programs department on the Gainesville campus. A student worker in the First Year Experience office will support programs and initiatives designed to help new students transition successfully to college. They will assist with event planning, communication efforts, and administrative tasks. The role involves engaging with first-year students by answering questions, providing peer support, and connecting them to campus resources. Campus location could be Dahlonega if it needs to be.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and executing first-year programs, workshops, and events
- Respond to emails and help manage communication with first-year students
- Support social media efforts by creating content and scheduling posts
- Help track attendance and input data for program assessment and reporting
- Conduct outreach to students about upcoming events and campus resources
- Collaborate with peer mentors and staff on engagement initiatives
- Set up and break down event spaces, including preparing materials and signage
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- The student worker should have a basic understanding of campus resources, services, and policies that support first-year student success.
- They should also be familiar with effective communication practices and have a general awareness of the challenges and transitions new students may experience.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
