Job Description Summary

The Penn Global Initiatives Manager will lead communications, external relations, and engagement on behalf of the Penn Global Initiatives team and Penn Global as a whole, where appropriate. Key tasks will include developing traditional and digital engagement and communications strategy, managing communications and external relations and engagement projects, interfacing with key stakeholders, and leading special projects and events that engage key stakeholders. Other functions include managing the Penn Global website, developing branding and outreach materials, and conducting data collection and analysis. The role also entails management of student workers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop communications strategy including legacy/traditional and digital channels and implement across website, social media, branding and outreach materials, and other channels as needed
  • Conceptualize, lead, and implement events, programs, and projects to engage key stakeholders, including in response to Penn Global and university priorities. Serve as a liaison and focal point for Penn campus and external partners
  • Support, or manage as needed, the collection, analysis, and presentation of data demonstrating Penn's engagement in the world. Such reports are often developed and submitted to University leadership, including the President and Provost, to prepare them for upcoming meetings, trips, or other high-level engagements
  • Recruit and manage student workers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of experience in communications, strategic engagement, program management, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven ability to plan and execute events and stakeholder engagement initiatives, including collaboration across diverse internal and external constituencies.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong skills in written and verbal communication, ideally with experience preparing content for senior leadership or high-profile audiences.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting data in compelling formats, especially for executive-level decision-making.
  • Experience in developing and executing communications strategies across traditional and digital platforms is a distinct advantage, as is familiarity with InDesign or similar graphics design software, MailChimp or similar email management software, and/or SurveyMonkeyApply or similar program management software.
