POSITION DETAILS
The College of Staten Island (CSI) is a City University of New York (CUNY) senior College organized around two academic divisions and three schools, with over 10,000 students. CSI offers a broad range of academic programs in the liberal arts and sciences, and in several professional areas. The College awards associate's, bachelor's, master's and clinical doctoral degrees, and in collaboration with The CUNY Graduate Center, numerous Ph.D. degrees. Reporting to the Associate Provost of Faculty Success, the Grants Development Manager supports principal investigators in the pursuit of government grants, and also provides guidance and assistance to principal investigators and project directors to help assure efficient administration and implementation of government grants awarded to the University. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:
- Leads the identification and communication of government grant funding opportunities, ensuring strategic alignment with the University’s research priorities. Actively shares relevant opportunities with faculty and administrators through established communication channels.
- Oversees the interpretation and dissemination of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and grant guidelines. Ensures faculty and staff have the necessary support to successfully navigate proposal submissions.
- Manages and guides the post-award grant process, ensuring that principal investigators and project directors comply with financial and administrative requirements. Collaborates with the RF-CUNY to maintain financial accuracy and transparency.
- Provides direct one-on-one support to faculty, administrators, and other members of the University community in the development of grant proposals, including detailed assistance with budget planning and narrative creation. Delivers training and guidance to help enhance grant-writing skills across the University.
- Manages the dissemination of grant funding information and contract opportunities to faculty and administrators. Ensures that principal investigators receive accurate guidance on interpreting RFPs and proposal guidelines to enhance successful submissions.
- Oversees the preparation and submission of all interim and final reports for awarded grants. Ensures accuracy and compliance with deadlines by working closely with project directors and financial administrators.
- Assists in setting and managing operational goals. Manages the execution of department-wide initiatives to improve grant administration processes.
- Oversees post-award grant management, ensuring principal investigators and project directors comply with financial and administrative guidelines. Collaborates with RF-CUNY to ensure effective financial oversight and sustainability of government and private foundation grants.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience developing and submitting federal, state, or city grant proposals
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing post-award compliance, including reporting and financial oversight, preferably with RF-CUNY or a similar research foundation
- Experience managing the post-award process for 10-15 grants at a time, with on-time submission of interim and final reports
- Proven ability to support 50+ faculty or principal investigators annually with grant submissions and budget preparation

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$95,879 - $106,439
Salary commensurate with education and experience.

CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
