State and Federal Governmental Relations
The Special Assistant to the President for State Governmental Relations ensures the University of Idaho is represented in all aspects of state governmental relations and supports federal governmental relations.
Duties may include:
- Increasing the level of funding and other support for scholarly and creative activity from state sources while increasing the stature of the University of Idaho as the land grant university for the State
- Building relationships that develop and maintain an effective state legislative network for the advancement of University strategic initiatives and priorities
- Building relationships to help educate about and advance university initiatives within the executive branch of state government
- Working in close collaboration with university leadership and Idaho colleagues statewide on matters relating to state relations, as well as with officers and staff at other colleges and universities
- Collaborating with the Vice President of Research and Economic Development and external advisory/lobby groups for federal relations in support of expanding research success and R1 status
- Coordinating with University Communications and Marketing for consistent messages aimed at identified constituents and external entities as well as helping to operationalize a network focused on advancing the University’s priorities
- Other duties as assigned
