This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing portfolio of research and scholarly activities by promoting and supporting external funding efforts across the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences. The Pre-Award Grants Manager supports the pursuit of external funding opportunities by assisting faculty, administrators, and staff in identifying, monitoring and disseminating new funding opportunities, preparing proposals, and ensuring compliance with sponsor guidelines and institutional policies.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 4 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with grant submission systems such as Grants.gov, NSF Research.gov, or NIH Assist. Certified Research Administrator designation or willingness to sit for exam within one year of hire.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge and experience in proposal development. Strong project management skills, including the capacity to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate multiple stakeholders. Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work under tight deadlines. Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Excellent customer service and communication skills, and the ability to work across diverse cultures and personalities.
Job Duties:
- Ensures the accuracy, compliance, and timely submission of funding proposals to external agencies, including federal, state, private, and non-profit sponsors. (35%)
- Develops project budgets in collaboration with principal investigators (PIs), ensuring alignment with funding agency requirements. (20%)
- Develops and maintains a repository of proposal resources, templates, and institutional data to support proposal development. (10%)
- Disseminates information about funding opportunities for faculty and researchers in the college. (10%)
- Stays current with funding agency updates, trends, and changes in policies to ensure ongoing compliance. (10%)
- Establishes strong relationships with faculty and university research support offices to facilitate effective communication throughout the proposal process. (10%)
- Contributes to the overall success of the College of Arts and Sciences by performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor and/or Dean of the College. (5%)
Approved Starting Salary: 72,093. Advertised Salary Range: $72,093 - $90,116. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm, with one hour for lunch. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department.
