Information Literacy Librarian
UNCW Library at the University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks an Information Literacy Librarian to promote information literacy knowledge and skills by developing instructional materials; engaging with faculty, staff, and students in First Year Seminar, Transfer Seminar, English Composition, and the Honors College; and providing training on information literacy concepts to library and UNCW faculty and staff. This is an 11-month (July-May) non-tenure fixed-term faculty position reporting to the Associate Director of Academic & Research Engagement.
The Information Literacy Librarian is part of the UNCW Library's Academic & Research Engagement (ARE) division, which collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to provide information literacy instruction, assist with research, develop the library collection, and partner on programming.
- Act as liaison to University College, English Composition, and the Honors College.
- Develop and assist in delivering and assessing information literacy instruction for the core curriculum (First Year Seminar, Transfer Seminar, and English Composition).
- Collaborate with the Director of University Studies, the University Studies Advisory Committee, and liaison librarians to align information literacy concepts with practices at UNCW.
- Provide training on information literacy concepts to library and UNCW faculty and staff.
Library faculty in the ARE division generally have responsibilities such as collaborating on information literacy instruction, providing research services, ensuring collections support curricular needs, and engaging in programming.
As a library faculty member, this position will provide research help, support the library's mission, participate in university and professional activities, and stay current with developments in librarianship.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- ALA-accredited master's degree in library and information sciences.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrated knowledge of core and emerging practices in information literacy.
- Ability to create asynchronous online learning objects.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Effective interpersonal, oral, written, and virtual communication skills.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit: Academic Affairs implements the academic mission of UNCW, and the UNCW Library supports this through resources and services.
