The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking an Instructor, Administration of Justice at Las Positas College in Livermore, California.
This position reports directly to the Division Dean.

Representative Duties

1. Ability to effectively and enthusiastically teach Administration of Justice courses including, but not limited to: Introduction to AJ, Report Writing, Corrections, Probation and Parole, Crime and Delinquency, Evidence, Laws of Arrest Search and Seizure, Investigations, Ethics, Community Relations, Narcotics, Gangs, Criminology, Patrol Procedures, Sex Crimes, and Domestic Violence;
2. Ability to coordinate the program and perform related duties, including management of instructional equipment; oversight of administrative, reporting, and regulatory compliance requirements associated with program- specific certifications and approvals; and coordination of instructional delivery and service agreements with external agencies and partners.
3. Ability to design and implement innovative teaching methodologies in the above mentioned curriculum;
4. Recruit, mentor, and advise adjunct instructors;
5. Demonstrated knowledge of California community college curriculum and instructional development, including course and program design, approval processes, and instructional standards for programs related to the criminal justice system.
6. Ability to develop and sustain partnerships with industry, public agencies, K–12 partners, and workforce education programs to support dual enrollment and CCAP initiatives; engage in program outreach; and recruit for and serve on program advisory boards.
7. Demonstrated knowledge of methods of instruction, testing, and assessment of students;
8. Commitment to effective collaboration with administrators, faculty, and staff to increase support and success for students;
9. Participate in campus professional activities, which include, but are not limited to: committee membership, curriculum development, staff meetings, and community outreach.
10. Ability to contribute to the total operation of the instructional program including fulfilling Department, Division, and College responsibilities as well as within the community and the District;
11. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form;
12. Ability to adapt instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles, and utilize a variety of teaching modalities including distance and hybrid learning;
13. Ability to seek and support professional growth and demonstrate career objectives consistent with the mission of Las Positas College;
14. Availability to teach morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, distance learning, and/or off-campus classes when scheduled as part of the regular teaching assignment, to teach outdoors and in sometimes inclement conditions, as well as the ability to effectively demonstrate operational law enforcement techniques.
15. Ability to seek and support professional growth and demonstrate career objectives consistent with the mission of Las Positas College;
16. Evidence of a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities.

Minimum Education and Experience

Any bachelors degree or higher and two years of professional experience
OR any associate degree and six years of professional experience
OR equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications

Evidence of sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Teaching experience in Administration of Justice or a closely related discipline at the community college or university level.
2. Professional experience within the criminal justice system or a related public service field that informs college- level instruction and student mentoring.
3. Experience designing and delivering instruction using adult learning principles, student- centered pedagogy, and inclusive or culturally responsive teaching practices.
4. Experience supporting student success through mentoring, advising, outreach, or pathway development into college, transfer, or criminal justice -related careers.
5. Knowledge or instructional experience in one or more of the following areas; criminal law, investigations, evidence, forensics, corrections, community-based justice practices, leadership, supervision, or program coordination.
6. Experience working with secondary education partners or youth-focused programs, including high school instruction, duel enrollment, CCAP, or early college pathway initiatives that support students transition into higher education and career pathways.

Job Work Schedule

The positions are full-time, tenure track, beginning Fall 2026. Employment will begin on or about August 20, 2026.
