"Instructor or Lecturer of Computer Science"

South Dakota State University is seeking a Computer Science Instructor/Lecturer with a passion for teaching and a strong interest in applying computer science to real-world challenges. In this role, you’ll guide students through both foundational concepts and emerging technologies, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to succeed in an evolving digital world. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 9-month full-time, benefits-eligible position.

The McComish Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science provides a hands-on, practical education that prepares students for careers in engineering, science, and technology. Our programs emphasize problem-solving, research, and collaboration with industry and government partners. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach a broad range of undergraduate courses in computer science or software engineering, with the possibility of teaching both upper- and lower-level undergraduate courses.
• Advise students on senior capstone projects.
• Participate in undergraduate curriculum development and updates.
• General service to the Department, College and University as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master of Science in computer science or software engineering or a closely related area by start date.
• Ability or potential to develop curriculum and teach a broad range of computer science or software engineering fields at the undergraduate level.
• Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ph.D. in computer science or a closely related field by start date.
• Teaching experience at the collegiate level.
