Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the Biology department on the Gainesville campus. The Invertebrate Lab TA and Collections Student Manager will curate invertebrate collection and keep room 117 organized. Start a digital database for collections. Maintain and calibrate equipment used for classes. Update lab handouts and procedures and TA Invertebrate lab. Help with data collection and analysis for 2 ongoing studies.
Responsibilities
- Organizational skill for phylum collections, including topping up vials and switching out damaged specimens.
- Updating word and excel sheets for handouts and data analysis.
- Following directions for calibration of equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Basic understanding of organismal biology [has taken 1108].
- Not squeamish around invertebrates. Enjoys working both in lab and in the field.
- Understands Excel or is a quick learner.
- Has a good feel for how students view material because is current student and can assist with updates to lab procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.
- Has taken 1108 Principles of Biology II
