JOB PURPOSE:
Under direct supervision, support strategic Washington, DC-based Media Relations outreach by managing and tracking data, drafting written correspondence, assisting with research, building specialized media lists, and monitoring multiple forms of media including, print, digital, radio, etc. for institutional priorities.
CORE DUTIES*:
- Monitor and analyze relevant media coverage for institutional priorities.
- Assist and support program communication efforts by composing and drafting documents, correspondence, and other resources to be shared internally and externally.
- Manage and maintain a database of media contacts and assist with the reporting of department outreach and events and track media metrics including op-eds, interviews, and press releases.
- Create, maintain, modify, and/or ensure the accuracy of Media and Government Relations content in documents, reports, media, and/or websites.
- Perform substantial editing and fact-checking.
- Assist with media relations programming in Washington, DC by assisting with event space research, building invitation lists, and coordinating logistics.
ADDITIONAL CORE DUTIES*:
- Maintain accurate records of department activities, including meetings, events, correspondence, and outcomes.
- Create complex reports and utilize special software and systems as needed.
- Manage media relations data and outreach reporting.
- Assist with on-site and off-site event support, such as check-ins, directions, equipment set-up, and parking for visitors.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated planning and/or project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to be self-directed and take initiative.
Preferred/Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with US and foreign news media, including traditional print, digital, broadcast, radio, and podcasts
- Experiencing tracking and analyzing the news cycle
- Experience using Google documents and sheets
- Experience in using Hubspot

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
- Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
- Frequently sitting.
- Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional work on evenings and weekends.
- On call and ability to respond 24/7.
The expected pay range for this position is $34.58 to $43.66 per hour. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
