Job Title: MISSION: Temporary Staff - ABFS & CAS Festival Assistant

Department: Office of Mission & Community Learning

Reports to: Associate Director of Office of Mission & Community Learning

General purpose: The ABFS & CAS Festival Assistant is a temporary position that offers support to the Office of Mission & Community Learning in the preparation & execution of tentpole programming. The Assistant provides operational support for the Annual Benefit Fashion Show & the CAS Festival with regards to outreach, marketing, student support and supervision, and organization.

Summary of Essential Functions

  • Support the Associate Director of the Office of Mission & Community Learning in the preparation and execution of the CAS Exhibition & Festival, including but not limited to: marketing, outreach, organization, expense tracking, install, event facilitation, and deinstall
  • Support the Mission Specialist in the preparation and execution of the Annual Benefit Fashion Show, including but not limited to: marketing, outreach, organizing, schedule management, expense tracking, student support, rehearsals & event facilitation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with facilitating Annual Benefit Fashion Show related programming and preparation work, including: designer workshops, meetings, critiques, the Bmore Fabric Swap, designer rehearsals, the Community Marketplace, and the show day itself
  • Assist with supporting the Community Arts & Service Exhibition & Festival: with communications, outreach, organization, install, event facilitation
  • Support a student curator in the development, curation, installation & deinstallation of the Baltimore Design School x ABFS exhibition
  • Organize documents for meetings and other administrative assignments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • People-person capable of leadership and holding themselves and others to timelines
  • Detail-oriented and diligent to follow-up and complete tasks for assigned projects.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in social media platforms.
  • Creative problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of event planning-related logistics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially for marketing & outreach
  • Strong time management strategies
  • Familiar with Google Calendar, Google Sheets, Google Forms & Google Docs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge in the fields of fashion, art installation, and/or event management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient at adapting to changes and incorporating novel/innovative ideas to work
  • Superior task management abilities that help fulfill responsibilities
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and risks promptly and responsibly
  • Effective communication skills that help take orders and delegate responsibilities
  • Background in art-making/arts administration

Conditions of Employment

  • Must complete a satisfactory Background Check
  • This role operates on a non-traditional work schedule and requires flexibility in hours and consistent on-campus availability, including evenings and weekends, as necessary to fulfill essential job functions.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends
  • This temporary position is set to start March 4th, 2026 and end May 1st, 2026.
