Job Summary
The Events Assistant for Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) plays a vital support role in delivering exceptional, mission-aligned events that connect adult learners with the PLNU community. Working closely with the Events Manager, the Assistant helps execute the planning, communication, and logistics that bring GPS events to life. This role is ideal for an emerging professional interested in enrollment, event operations, or digital engagement. The Events Assistant brings creativity, organization, and a willingness to learn into a highly collaborative environment that values flexibility, innovation, and purpose-driven work. Tasks may vary based on seasonal needs and event complexity, and are assigned under the direction of the Events Manager.

Salary
Pay range $17.75 - $19.23 per hour
Actual salary offered is determined by the candidate's experience, education, skills, and other factors, including internal equity and university funding resources.

Job Description
Responsibilities
Event Support & Logistics
- Assist in the planning, setup, execution, and teardown of GPS events across all delivery formats (online, hybrid, and in-person).
- Help coordinate logistics such as room reservations, supplies, hospitality, and signage.
- Support the setup and staffing of community college fairs, tabling events, and information sessions.
- Attend events as needed to assist with on-site coordination (some evenings/weekends required, as assigned by the Events Manager).
- Provide timely feedback and observations from events to support continuous improvement.
Communication & Content Execution
- Collaborate with the Events Manager to draft and schedule email and SMS campaigns for events such as:
- New Student Orientations (NSO)
- Financial Aid Workshops
- Webinars, info sessions, and other recruitment events
- Utilize approved templates and tools to maintain brand consistency.
- Assist in content creation using Canva and other platforms for flyers, social media assets, and signage.
- Use AI tools to generate, edit, or refine digital communications when appropriate.
Inventory & Resource Management
- Organize, track, and restock event swag, promotional materials, and welcome packets.
- Support the maintenance of inventory systems and event supply cabinets.
- Coordinate with vendors on small orders as directed by the Events Manager.
Technology & Data Support
- Enter attendance and engagement data into Salesforce and/or CODA systems.
- Help prepare event reports and summaries under manager guidance.
- Assist with webinar setup, video editing, or content uploads as needed.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Maintain positive working relationships with counselors, marketing staff, and academic program teams.
- Support communication and coordination as directed by the Events Manager.
- Uphold the PLNU brand, tone, and values in all outreach and interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- Interest in events, marketing, communication, or higher education
- Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable in fast-paced settings
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable with tools like Canva, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace
- Willingness to learn Salesforce and other platforms
- Availability for occasional evening or weekend event shifts (with advance notice)
- Alignment with the mission and values of PLNU
- Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU's Community Life Covenant.

Physical Requirements
- The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time.
- Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
- Ability to read documents, email and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone.
- Ability to stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 20 lbs throughout the day.
