Oconto County Administrative Specialist

The Oconto County Administrative Specialist plays a key role in supporting the delivery of educational programs and services in Oconto County. Working closely with Extension Educators, this position supports the successful implementation of outreach efforts that serve diverse community audiences. The Administrative Specialist is responsible for coordinating program logistics, facilitating access to educational resources, and supporting program delivery across the region. In addition to assisting with local programming, this position provides critical support to the Oconto County office team and the Area Extension Director, ensuring smooth office operations and efficient internal processes. The Administrative Specialist will monitor the Oconto County budget process and assist in purchasing. This role also includes managing and creating digital marketing efforts, such as maintaining websites and social media accounts, creating promotional materials, and using online platforms to increase community awareness and engagement with Extension programs.

FTE: This position is part-time, 50%.

County Location: The main office for this position is located in Oconto, WI and the primary support focus is Oconto County; however, some work may also be conducted over a broader geographical area.

In Person: It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Evening/Weekend Work: While rare, this position may be required to work nights and weekends to support the program needs and priorities of the communities served.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists, recommends, and advises staff on unit or program administrative issues, personnel matters, and budgetary problems
  • Manages outreach, website and social media platforms for the Oconto County Offices
  • Analyzes data and trends, compiles progress reports, and provides appropriate recommendations or conclusions in support of the assigned operational work unit(s)
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for a designated work unit to contribute to the day-to-day operational success
  • Serves on committees and attends meetings, representing the interests of the unit or program
  • Implements and executes established policies and procedures for a designated work unit to adhere to unit objectives and to align with established strategies

Department: Division of Extension, Office of the Area Extension Director, Oconto County.

Compensation: The minimum annual (12 months) starting salary for the position is $48,107 prorated due to FTE, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays, and paid time off; competitive insurances and savings accounts; retirement benefits. Benefits information can be found at (https://hr.wisc.edu/benefits/). This is a part-time position, which means actual salary earned will be prorated based on FTE (full-time status). At 50% FTE, the person hired can expect to receive 50% of the advertised salary. Please note that some benefits such as paid time off will be prorated by appointment percentage.

Required Qualifications: Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional work environments and relationships; Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines; Experience developing partnerships with other agencies, community-based services, or organizations; Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; Experience with digital marketing tools and platforms (social media, websites, email marketing).

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with community-based outreach and education; Basic financial management skills, including budgeting, invoicing, and purchasing; Experience representing an organization in a public-facing role; Experience with digital marketing content creation (short-long form digital content, Facebook posts, infographics, etc.).

Education: Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Preferred Education: Associate's degree.
