Position Description: The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will join the UCR SEARCH Center team. SEARCH is the first free autism clinic within the University of California system. We focus on providing information, support, screening, and diagnosis for families of children in the Inland Empire of California. We are particularly focused on serving historically minoritized populations (e.g. Latinx and Spanish-speaking families, those from under-resourced areas, etc). Assessments are provided in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities: The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will be involved in various SEARCH projects and initiatives. These include: Exploring best practices for diagnosing adults with autism, testing the accuracy and validity of tele-health diagnostic procedures for ASD, conducting phone intakes and in-person diagnostic appointments at SEARCH. This is a two-year, University-funded position. Preferred start date October-December 2025. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will be supervised in clinical activities by a licensed Clinical Psychologist, and in research activities by a Distinguished Research Professor.

Examples of Duties: Under the supervision of the SEARCH Director and Co-Director and in collaboration with the other identified key personnel, the post-doctoral fellow will oversee and contribute to the following efforts:

  • Assist in implementing diagnostic procedures for adults seeking an autism diagnosis, preferably in both Spanish and English
  • Conduct in-person diagnostic appointments, write psychological reports, and conduct feedback calls with parents
  • Assist in identifying and implementing best practices for tele-health diagnostic procedures for ASD
  • Collaborate with staff and assist SEARCH Director in supervising undergraduate and doctoral students
  • Participate in weekly research team meetings
  • Engage in analysis and writing of findings, as author or co-author when substantively involved
  • Share results with stakeholder audiences
  • Write and publish on existing datasets

Qualifications: PhD in Special Education, School Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or related field, is required by time of appointment. Training in autism diagnosis and screening is required by time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with historically underserved families is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish and English is strongly preferred. Research reliability on gold standard diagnostic measures for autism (e.g. ADOS-2, ADI-R), is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Familiarity with statistical packages (e.g., SPSS, R)
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to protect confidentiality of participant information.
  • Ability to provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with internal team members, stakeholders, community members, and participants.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong commitment to research ethics.

Salary Range: A reasonable estimate for this position is $66,737-$74,425.
