Are you an organised and detail-driven person ready to learn all about the construction industry while supporting the delivery of high-impact projects?

Join the Capital Projects team at the University of Oxford and play a vital role in delivering major building projects that shape the University’s future. We welcome applications from those without corporate experience who are eager to build their career in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

About Us

Spanning the historic streets of the "city of dreaming spires," the University of Oxford has been ranked the world’s leading university for nine consecutive years. A place where centuries of tradition meet world-changing innovation, we offer you the chance to shape the future while working in an inspiring environment that promotes excellence. Here, you’ll contribute to projects that directly support world-class research and teaching, and join a diverse, inclusive community that champions your wellbeing, development, and aspirations.

The Capital Projects team manages the University’s major construction and refurbishment projects, from cutting-edge research facilities to modern teaching spaces. The Team is delivering the University’s Minor Capital Plan - a rolling programme of over 250 live projects across the estate, with an annual budget of £30 million, increasing yearly. Project values typically range from £100k to £15m.

About the Role

You will support a portfolio of divisional projects, ensuring they meet the University’s standards for compliance, governance, and delivery. Your role is vital to keeping projects on track and aligned with strategic goals.

Working closely with a Divisional Programme Manager, you will gain hands-on experience managing project delivery while developing your skills in a supportive environment.

You will liaise with external consultants and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with all requirements. You will be joining a forward-thinking team during a period of exciting growth and development opportunities.

About You

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Juggle multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Communicate confidently and professionally with people at all levels.
  • Use organisational skills to keep complex projects on track.
  • Work proactively, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Confidently use Microsoft Office and quickly learn new systems.

Previous corporate experience is not required. If you have developed your skills through university, internships, volunteering, or other work, we would love to hear from you.

Sponsorship and Right to Work

This role does not meet the criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa under the UK Visa & Immigration points-based system. We are therefore unable to offer sponsorship for this role.

Application Process

To apply, please upload:

  • A covering letter/supporting statement
  • Your CV
  • The details of two referees

Interviews will take place in the week commencing 1st September 2025, and will be held face-to-face.
