Job Summary:
This position is in a research program focused on the early developmental pathways to auditory development and the influences on perception. By understanding the impact of auditory access on perceptual development over the first year of life into toddlerhood, we hope to develop novel interventions for children vulnerable to language development. This Research Audiologist will be involved in the recruitment, tracking, and testing infants and young children with typical and atypical hearing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Research with the Uhler Lab and faculty from the Dept. of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in a new state-of-the-art testing facility that includes dedicated space for psychophysical and evoked potential (ABR/EEG) measurements
- Conducts comprehensive audiometry (pure tone and speech), middle-ear immittance measures, otoacoustic emissions, auditory evoked potentials; air conduction, bone conduction, electrically evoked responses, hearing aid and cochlear implant fittings, programming, and verification, unaided and aided speech discrimination testing
- Amplification fitting, verification and validation
- Executes psychoacoustic-based experiments including tonal detection, masking, spectral and temporal resolution, pitch discrimination, etc.
- Completes data entry, data management and initial data analyses
- Participates in data dissemination, assists in development and writing of manuscripts for publication
- Assist in writing grants
- Maintain and write new research IRB protocols as necessary for the work
- Train and supervise junior research associates, students and post-doctoral researchers.
- Actively recruit subjects across campuses
- Oversees calibration including determination of calibration needs and timetables. Completes hands-on calibration in laboratories where calibration is completed within the lab
Work Location: Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week (1.0 FTE) on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Auditory Sciences, Neuroscience or related field
- 2+ years in pediatric audiology or relevant professional role (e.g., research laboratory)
- Licensure/certification: Colorado state licensure in audiology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with a demonstrated record of productivity is desired.
- Computational skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R, etc.)
- Experience with research design, development of research hypotheses, and methods to test them
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Exercises appropriate judgment in complex or ambiguous situations, balancing risk, quality, and outcomes.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
- Focused on achieving measurable outcomes aligned with organizational goals, quality standards, and performance expectations.
- Applies critical thinking and creativity to resolve operational and clinical challenges in a dynamic environment.

HIRING RANGE: $68 - $71/hour or $141,440 - $147,680/year
