Research Project Assistant
We are seeking a Research Project Assistant who will provide entry-level administrative support for a research project. Will assist with tasks that may include community outreach, data collection, sample collection, laboratory work, and/or field work. Collects and/or organizes data through implementation of research procedures and understanding of research goals.
This position provides research support in the Chen Lab in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences. Under close supervision of the faculty PI, this position will work with laboratory members to perform human behavioral and neuroscience research and research-related tasks.
This position is part-time with a consistent schedule of 20 hours per week.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with collection and organization of data per study requirements, e.g. participant interviews, administer questionnaires; conduct background research, etc.
- Assist with setup of tools and procedures for data collection and study processes.
- Enter data into the database.
- Run routine queries of the data.
- Perform basic literature searches.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supplemental Information
- Online and in-person human subjects data collection.
- Laboratory schedule management.
- Curation, transcription, video editing, and labeling of audiovisual movies.
- Statistical analysis of human behavioral data.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or graduation equivalent.
- Six months of work experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.A. (Psychology or Neuroscience or Cognitive Science).
- Prior experience collecting human subjects data in a neuroscience, psychology, or cognitive science lab is strongly preferred.
- Extensive experience collecting human subjects data, or extensive experience in data analysis, may substitute for formal training in these fields.
- Background in neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of lab protocols.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a research team.
- Ability to keep detailed and organized records.
