Duties & Responsibilities
- Works under the supervision of the PI and assists with the set up and performance of standard laboratory operations and experimentation. Records results in laboratory notebooks or data folders, make routine laboratory observations, analyzes data, and interprets experimental results.
- Adjusts, adapts or develops specific procedures or techniques to fit the experiments requirements.
- Works with the PI in the development of new strategies, techniques and equipment.
- Participates in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols, and examines results.
- Provides routine and technical administrative support to research projects.
- Assist in data analysis from ongoing experiments and provide an additional opinion regarding the validity of data obtained.
- Create and manage laboratory-shared spreadsheets for ongoing studies to simplify the sharing of data between lab staff.
- Facilitate the maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment via self-repair or company repair.
- Perform wire myography, tissue preparation and processing, and analysis of resulting data: Assist in wire myography. Conduct validation experiments such as Immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, RiboTag immunoprecipitiation, qRT-PCR and Tissue sectioning/mounting.
- Analyze data and reports findings and summarize the success of ongoing experiments: Facilitate lab operations/lab meetings and schedule extracurricular lab events. Facilitate communication between the lab and outside entities. Oversee RLSS compliance for all lab members. Manage murine colony and oversee laboratory genotyping. Conduct routine lab inspections and maintain current laboratory chemical/supply inventory.
- Assist in the design, fabrication, and procurement of essential vector constructs.
- Write standard operating procedures and ensure those procedures are adhered to by all laboratory staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field.
- Molecular biology experience.
- Experience with rodent surgery.
