Researcher and Project Manager

About the Role

The Department of Education is looking to appoint a Researcher and Project Manager to join an NIHR funded study to evaluate early identification and intervention for children with Speech Language and Communication Needs delivered by Health Visiting teams across England.

This study is led by Professor Cristina McKean, University of Oxford and Professor Lindsay Pennington, Newcastle University with colleagues from Northumbria University and the Institute of Health Visiting.

This exciting opportunity would see the postholder join a team of researchers working with the Principal Investigator across several national and international studies in the field of Speech Language and Communication Needs and SEND.

In the study the post holder will work to ensure timely ethical approvals, HRA, and legal compliance and manage timelines and data storage and access and support processes relating to financial management. They will also work with the project administrator to support their activities with respect to organising project meetings, agendas and minutes; liaising with HV teams; supporting data management; and supporting PPI activity. They will also support day-to-day coordination of the study across work packages, survey dissemination, PPI activity and maintain relationships with PPI members.

The successful candidate will hold a first degree together with some relevant experience, and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the field of child language development and/or interventions to support children’s health, development and educational outcomes to work within established research programme.

They must be able to manage their own research and administrative activities within provided guidelines and have excellent team working and communication skills.

The post is offered part-time at 11.25 hours per week, on a fixed term basis until 31 October 2027.
