RoastRunners Coffee Shop WS, Student

Performs basic food service duties for the Roastrunners Coffee Shop, including preparation of food items and opening and closing work stations.

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC, maintain satisfactory academic progress, have financial aid in place, require previous experience in food service, and have a current Food Handler’s card or obtain it within 30 days.

Knowledge and Skills: High school level reading, writing and arithmetic skills, knowledge of computerized point of sales cash registers, safety and sanitary practices, and strong customer relations skills.

Abilities: Ability to carry out duties independently, read and understand instructions and safety materials, handle food and equipment per health standards, calculate amounts, perform cashiering, receive instructions, work as a team, and interact respectfully with individuals of all cultures.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Position involves extended periods of standing, lifting light to medium weight objects (10–40 pounds), stooping, crouching, good dexterity, working around hot equipment, fast-paced environment in a snack bar near student activities.

Essential Duties:

• Prepares for opening by setting up workstations and closes at the end of shifts.
• Prepares food items to customer orders, including fry station, grill, salads, sandwiches, pizza, soups, coffee, and espresso drinks.
• Maintains positive communications with kitchen crew and cashiers.
• Keeps work and service areas safe, sanitary, and orderly, complying with health codes.
• Filters fryer at end of shift and cleans equipment.
• Restocks workstations and notifies Cafe Lead of needed items.
• Prepares food items for the next shift/day.
• Washes dishes and assists with cleaning as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
