Student Success Coordinator - (250000IM)

The Student Success Coordinator will develop, implement, and evaluate success strategies and outcomes for students in the Department of Nursing, while managing University, and departmental resources, to support nursing students’ progression and program completion. This role will communicate essential resources and support available to students while keeping faculty informed of such support. The Student Success Coordinator will monitor student success trends by cohort and course while preparing, and presenting, data for department and college leadership that effectively communicates trends and patterns.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Oversees the plan, implementation and evaluation of student tutoring and success programs, including Supplemental Instruction (SI). Includes hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of SI leaders and/or tutors.
- Propose and manage SI budget in collaboration with department leadership.
- Tracks student progression across curricula in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Collects data on student success, such as exam scores, course grades, and other relevant data.
- Builds and maintains reliable and accurate spreadsheets and conducts basic data analyses. Compiles, organizes, and maintains data to support leadership decision-making, provide monthly reports at faculty meetings, and create other statistical reports as needed.
- Offer academic coaching and guidance to all nursing students, especially students at risk of failure. Guides students in the creation and implementation of success plans. Conducts outreach to at-risk students in response to referral from course faculty and/or academic advisors or student course performance. Maintain regular follow up with at-risk students.
- Facilitate academic remediation planning for students repeating coursework in the nursing major. Connects nursing students to University resources as needed.
- Communicates with faculty and staff about students in need of academic support.
- Oversees and implements student success programming, including but not limited to new nursing student orientation, nursing career fair, and the nursing student ambassador program. Collaborate with department and university partners to support the professional development, academic success, and well-being of all nursing students.
- Communicate student trends, needs, and feedback to department faculty and campus partners as appropriate. May include collaboration with campus offices related to student success and support to gather and/or share data related to student success and well-being.
- Other duties as required to support student success and nursing program needs. Maintains a base understanding of nursing admissions requirements and provides nursing admissions office coverage as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree.
- Have at least three years of full-time experience working in higher education with adolescent and/or college students.
- Experience with diverse student body is essential.
- Be able to collate, analyze and interpret data.
- Be able to prepare user-friendly reports from quantitative and qualitative data.
- Possess excellent organizational and computer skills.
- Be self-motivated, goal oriented and able to facilitate team effort as well as have the ability to work independently.
- Possess excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills and be interested in, and attentive to, cross-cultural communication.
- Be able to work quickly to meet deadlines, have a strong work ethic, and have a willingness to learn and improve in all aspects of the position.
Preferences:
- Experience with Supplemental Instruction (SI); data analysis experience; budget development; student employee supervision; understanding of student success and development theories; public speaking.
Salary and Benefits
Targeted salary range of $58,000-$62,000 annually and full University benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
