The Project Coordinator supports the College of Health's student success and academic initiatives by managing a diverse portfolio of projects that span recruitment, convocation, curriculum support, student experience, and operational efficiency. This role coordinates the planning, execution, and assessment of programs that impact student recruitment, retention, and graduation, working closely with faculty, staff, and campus partners to ensure alignment, effectiveness, and continuous improvement. Through data-informed decision-making, strong collaboration, and hands-on project management, the Coordinator helps ensure that students receive a high-quality, well-supported educational experience from enrollment through completion.
Responsibilities
Tasks for the project person may include:
- Convocation- Recruitment
o Prospective students
o Open house
o Unit marketing
o Tabling and events - Student Experience Project
o Course efficiencies (e.g. low enrolled)
o Mandatory course syllabi maintenance - Curriculum support
- Student success initiatives and special projects
Knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools.
- Skill in examining and refining operations and procedures, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
- Outstanding interpersonal and community relations skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community.
- Strong evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively summarize and present information.
- Program planning and implementation skills.
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
- Excellent written, oral, and electronic communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of team as well as independently, accept accountability and meet deadlines.
- Strong collaboration, presentation, and interpersonal skills are essential for working with a wide range of campus constituents.
- An understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to student success such as student retention, persistence, and graduation
Duties and responsibilities
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and execution of student success programs and initiatives.
- Administers, oversees, and coordinates the activities of a range of smaller scale operating and support projects, as assigned.
- Gathers facts, researches issues, analyzes potential solutions on matters of efficiency.
- Monitors project status and resource utilization and recommends changes to improve effectiveness.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and other departments, to ensure project alignment and buy-in.
- May provide individual student support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that project implementation meets the needs of individual students.
- Monitor student data dashboards, evaluate program effectiveness, compile reports, and communicate outcomes to the campus community.
Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
- Project Coordinator, I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.
- Project Coordinator, II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
- Project Coordinator, III: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
