Web Content Specialist
Job Summary
Support website optimization and brand efforts of Georgia Southern University. Create, update and maintain web content for the University's website, conduct search engine optimization to keep the website current and active, and assist with the overall functionality of primary University websites. The Specialist consistently exhibits service, collaboration, and excellence as championed by the Division of Enrollment, Marketing and Student Success.
Responsibilities
- Write branded content for website working with stakeholders to make sure all content is correct and on brand
- Evaluate and optimize website content and user experience to improve functionality, marketing effectiveness and search engine optimization
- Develop relationships and liaise with University-wide content managers to support and guide website efforts
- Provides support to other campus content managers in WordPress CMS
- Be a proactive steward of University branding across the website
- Monitor University site to ensure quality as well as information is accurate, current and address accessibility issues as needed
- Develops high-quality top-level pages and landing pages using current web development practices
- Remains current on trends and priorities to create and maintain an up-to-date site
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
Required Experience
- Three or more years of related work experience
- Experience conducting needs assessments, analyzing data and making recommendations
- Accomplished in WordPress; skilled in website development and creation
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in HTML and CSS as well as current web development standards
- Understanding of search engine optimization and search engine marketing
- Knowledge of website accessibility standards
Preferred Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Information Technology or related fields
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with Google Analytics
Proposed Salary
$23.32 per hour. This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

- Experience working in Web Content Management Systems (CMS), particularly WordPress
Other Information
- Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Work generally performed in an office environment
- Workweek may occasionally extend beyond 40 hours
- Occasional travel may be required
