Academic Coordinator/ Advisor 3
The Opportunity:
The School of Biological Sciences is seeking candidates to perform Academic Coordinator/Advising duties as an Academic Coordinator/Advisor 3. In this position, you are responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the daily operations of the academic programs within the School of Biological Sciences. Additional responsibilities include providing information and advise students (caseload up to 150), faculty and staff in all matters regarding undergraduate student advising and program advising records. You will serve as primary contact for advising inquiries, student graduation, undergraduate advising policy and procedures, and administration of the undergraduate advising system for the program. You will also supervise departmental academic advisors and time-slip personnel. Other duties of your position include coordinating Biol 495 and Biol 499, supporting SBS undergraduate recruiting and serving as the liaison with CAS Advisory Council.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $4,508.00 - $6,767.00 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of full-time academic advising experience at a college or university or relevant professional experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional academic advising experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Positions who will lead or supervise will require one or more years of full-time experience leading or supervising the work of others.
- Experience leading or directing the work of others.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office such as Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize job tasks effectively.
- Experience conducting presentations.
- Demonstrated experience in public speaking.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in related field.
- Previous work experience at an institution of higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and leadership, including the ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of curriculum management practices, processes and policies.
- Experience working with and maintaining student records.
- Familiarity with Washington State University academic rules and regulations.
