Assistant Professor - Psychology
Contribute to the Department of Psychology's mission in teaching undergraduate and graduate students, conducting research, and providing service to the department, field, and community. The Department of Psychology at the University of Wyoming (UW) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Clinical Psychology, to begin August 2026. Research area is open, but preference will be given to applicants pursuing research in adult psychopathology or adult evidence-based therapy (broadly defined). We encourage applicants with research areas that complement current departmental interests (e.g., suicide and non-suicidal self-injury, sexual violence prevention, trauma-related psychopathology, processes such as emotion regulation, severe and persistent mental illness, autism, ADHD, substance use disorders, eating disorders) as well as those that extend existing areas of expertise. We hope to receive applications from a broad and diverse pool of candidates.
Position responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate teaching, including practicum supervision (2:2 load for research-active faculty), career advising, research supervision of graduate students (graduate student mentorship), and the development of a productive research program. Prior to attaining tenure, and upon completion of licensing requirements, candidates must obtain licensure as a psychologist in Wyoming. Lab space, internal grant opportunities, and competitive start-up funds are provided through the Department and the University. WORK LOCATION: This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the United States, as sponsorship for any work authorization or work visas is not available for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: PhD or ABD by August 31, 2026, from an APA- or CPA- accredited clinical psychology program; Completion of an APA- or CPA-accredited clinical internship (by August 31, 2026); Evidence of high-quality research productivity; Evidence of high-quality teaching (quantity commensurate with professional level).
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Research focus in adult psychopathology or adult evidence-based therapy (broadly defined); Interest in teaching core undergraduate and graduate courses; Demonstrated ability and/or demonstrated potential to supervise Clinical Psychology PhD students in evidence-based psychological services (especially for generalist adult therapy cases); The potential to contribute to ongoing or new collaborative research efforts across different areas of the department.
