Associate Dean of Alumni Affairs and Development, College of Arts and Sciences
Position Summary
The Associate Dean, College of Arts and Sciences, serves as the chief development officer for Cornell's largest and most academically diverse college, leading a high-performing team in securing over $50 million annually in philanthropic support. As a strategic partner to the Dean and senior university leadership, the Associate Dean drives integrated fundraising and alumni engagement efforts, cultivates major and principal gifts, and represents the College to internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the College's chief development officer, leading strategic fundraising and alumni engagement efforts in partnership with the Dean and Alumni Affairs and Development leadership.
- Manage a high-performing team of 10+ staff across major gifts, annual fund, alumni engagement, and stewardship, including direct supervision of four team members.
- Drive philanthropic support by cultivating and soliciting major and principal gifts, with a goal of securing over $50 million annually to advance the College's priorities.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Dean, shaping and advancing fundraising priorities while coordinating the Dean's involvement in donor engagement, alumni events, and other high-impact development activities.
- Represent the College and Division to internal and external stakeholders, including the Dean's Advisory Council, faculty, alumni, and university-wide development units.
- Collaborate across the university's advancement ecosystem, including Principal Gifts, Gift Planning, and Prospect Development, to align and amplify fundraising strategies.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 7-10 years of progressively responsible fund raising and leadership experience.
- A strong record of major and principal gift fundraising experience which will lead to donor investment in priority areas.
- Ability to work and partner with colleagues across a complex institutional framework.
- Particular strength in developing strategic and comprehensive fundraising plans, executing against these plans to achieve goals and objectives.
- Ability to champion the breadth and distinction of Arts & Sciences academic disciplines and educational approach.
Work Location
This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement. Employees typically perform this role remotely 2 days per week and on-campus 3 days per week. The university reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.
