General Summary

The Director of Wrangler Alumni & Athletics Partnerships is a dynamic, relationship-driven leader who builds lifelong connections between Odessa College, its athletic alumni, and the broader Wrangler community. Reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, this role focuses on cultivating alumni and athletic supporter engagement as a means of driving institutional pride, philanthropy, and strategic partnerships. The right candidate is a charismatic self-starter who thrives on creating meaningful experiences and transforming Wrangler pride into sustainable support for Odessa Colleges future.

Specific Position Duties

  • Develop and lead strategies that foster lifelong alumni and athletic program relationships, creating meaningful connections that translate into volunteerism, partnership, and philanthropy.
  • Cultivate and maintain key relationships with alumni, athletic sponsors and donors, and community stakeholders.
  • Plan and coordinate alumni-focused events such as reunions, homecoming activities, athletic alumni recognitions, and networking gatherings.
  • Serve as the key connector between coaches, former student-athletes, and community supporters, positioning athletic alumni engagement as a gateway to lifelong support of Odessa College.
  • Attend and actively engage with the Wrangler Booster Club, serving as a liaison between the college, athletic supporters, and donors.
  • Identify and activate sponsorship opportunities that align athletic pride with institutional advancement goals, collaborating with coaches to engage potential sponsors in ways that benefit both athletics and the college at large.
  • Develop and implement giving campaigns targeting alumni and athletic supporters in coordination with the advancement team.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to create alumni and athletic engagement content for newsletters, social media, and the college website.
  • Maintain and update alumni and athletic alumni records in the donor management system.
  • Represent Odessa College at community, athletic, and alumni events to enhance visibility and engagement.
  • Drive a culture of giving and involvement among alumni and athletic supporters, growing the donor pipeline for the Odessa College Foundation.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador at athletic and alumni events, proactively cultivating new relationships and stewarding existing supporters.
  • Lead stewardship efforts for athletic and alumni donors, ensuring they feel valued and connected to the mission of Odessa College beyond athletics.
  • Assist with Foundation fundraising campaigns, appeals, and donor events as needed.
  • Support stewardship efforts through thank-you communications, donor recognition, and impact reporting for alumni and athletic gifts.
  • Help identify prospective donors through alumni and athletics networks and provide background for cultivation strategies.
  • Contribute to planning and execution of college-wide advancement events such as Giving Tuesday, OC Honors, and employee giving campaigns.
  • Participate in goal-setting, reporting, and strategy sessions with the advancement team to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution in education, leadership, business, communications, marketing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster relationships with alumni, athletic supporters, and community stakeholders.
  • Experience in alumni relations, athletics engagement, fundraising, or a related area. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and events. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM or donor database systems preferred.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required for events and meetings
  • Proven ability to influence and engage diverse audiences, including corporate sponsors, alumni, and community leaders
  • Self-starter with entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for building new initiatives
  • Background in athletics is welcome but passion for alumni and athletic engagement is essential—not coaching or team management
  • Experience in advancement, fundraising, sponsorship activation, or donor relations preferred
