Call Visiting Fellowships 2026 KITLV
Job Summary: The KITLV invites scholars working in Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies to apply for a 3-month Visiting Fellowship. Fellows will work on their own publication or research project in these fields.
Responsibilities: Conduct research or work on a publication in Southeast Asian or Caribbean Studies while based at KITLV.
Qualifications and Requirements: Applicants must have a PhD in the Social Sciences and/or Humanities, carry out research in Southeast Asian and/or Caribbean Studies, be interested in conducting research in the Netherlands, be prepared to be based at KITLV for the entire fellowship period, and not be a (tax) resident of The Netherlands. Applicants should have a steady income as this is not a salaried position.
What the Employer Offers: Selected candidates will receive a return economy air or train fare to and from the Netherlands, reimbursement of accommodation costs in Leiden up to €2,000 per month, and a monthly compensation for higher living costs in Leiden based on their main place of residence. If needed, KITLV can provide a formal letter of invitation and support for a residence permit application.
