We are seeking an exceptional writer and highly organised communications professional to join our PR, Communications and Events team within Growth, Engagement and Marketing.
This is a pivotal internal communications role. It connects Schools, professional teams and leadership through clear, strategic storytelling that advances ECU’s priorities and strengthens our culture.
About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Media and Communications, you will lead the planning and delivery of internal communications that inform, align and inspire our staff and students.
You will work closely with stakeholders across the University to translate complex initiatives, research and achievements into clear, compelling stories that reflect ECU’s values and protect our reputation. You will play a central role in shaping internal narratives, ensuring consistency of message and tone across platforms.
A core responsibility of the role is producing high quality written content, including news stories that celebrate University achievements, major initiatives and research impact. You will also oversee the weekly staff newsletter, managing content development, coordination and publication through Publicate to ensure timely, engaging and strategically aligned communication.
This role requires exceptional organisational skills, editorial judgement and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities comfortably.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning and delivery of internal communications aligned to ECU’s strategic priorities
Act as a trusted communications partner to Schools and professional centres across the University
Research, write and edit high quality content for internal news platforms, the ECU newsroom
Manage and publish ECU’s weekly staff newsletter, ensuring it is accurate and engaging
Coordinate communications activity around key University initiatives and events
Support speech writing, including preparation of Order of Proceedings and briefing materials
Contribute to research communications campaigns by supporting the Senior Media Advisors
Monitor and evaluate communications performance and identify opportunities for improvement
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
A tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, public relations or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
Demonstrated experience in a communications role within a large, complex organisation
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging content
Outstanding organisational and planning capability, with proven ability to manage competing deadlines
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse teams
Experience across platforms such as Publicate, Salesforce and Jira
A proactive, solutions focused approach with a high attention to detail
