Description

In order to create a pool of qualified applicants, Sierra College accepts applications in all subject areas and conducts interviews for teaching positions throughout the year. Applications are kept in the hiring pool for a period of two years. The number of open positions varies from semester to semester. Examples Of Functions and Tasks

Lecture Preparation/Instruction - Develop syllabi, lesson plans, multimedia demonstrations, quizzes, tests; evaluate performance; stay current in Computer Science; attend trainings on culturally-responsive pedagogy.

Laboratory Instruction/Supervision - Prepare lab instruction, monitor use, develop projects.

Student Performance Evaluation - Develop assessments, grade, advise students, refer to support services.

Curriculum Development - Review and revise curriculum, work with employers, present proposals.

Departmental Development - Schedule meetings, manage budget, recruit faculty.

Workforce Development Activities - Participate in economic development, industry classes.

Articulation and Dual Enrollment - Assist high schools, develop agreements.

Shared Governance - Serve on committees, attend meetings.

Professional Development - Maintain memberships, attend conferences.

Student Recruitment/Job Placement - Tours, open houses, career advisement, internships.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's in computer science or computer engineering OR Bachelor's in either of the above AND Master's in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering OR Bachelor's in engineering AND Master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelor's in mathematics AND Master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND A master's degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems OR the equivalent.

Compensation

Entry-level from $77.44 per hour (Lecture Rate)/$58.08 per hour (Lab/Counselor Rate) to $98.98 per hour (Lecture Rate)/$74.24 per hour (Lab/Counselor Rate). State Teachers Retirement System (STRS).
