Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operations (VC F&O) is responsible for oversight of financial planning, budgeting and management; treasury and risk management; general accounting; facilities planning and construction; purchasing and stores; auxiliary enterprises; campus utilities; transportation and parking; real estate; trademarks and licensing; the N.C. Policy Collaboratory; and the Service Center of Excellence (SCE). The VC F&O works with various internal and external constituencies, including the UNC System Office, to improve the effectiveness of the University’s financial and business operations. The VC F&O is the principal finance and business officer of the University and a member of the Chancellor’s cabinet. The Vice Chancellor’s senior directors include: Senior Associate (Deputy) Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operations, Associate Vice Chancellor for University Real Estate Operations, Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Services, and Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance and Budget.
Position Summary
INTERNAL ONLY: Internal posting for permanent, time-limited, layoff priority employees of UNC-Chapel Hill, and temporary employees hired directly by UNC-Chapel Hill only.
Hybrid: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
This position serves as Executive Assistant to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Organizational Strategy and Performance, as well as provides support for leaders within the shared services organization at UNC Chapel Hill. The position interacts regularly with senior administrators and functions as a confidential conduit for information between these administrators and various campus units, particularly within the shared services framework. This position provides administrative and programmatic support to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Organizational Strategy and Performance and Director of ServiceFirst Coordination of Outcomes, Performance, and Effectiveness, and is responsible for assisting with all operational functions.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate’s degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

- Experience supporting a senior-level executive.
- Experience working in a university setting.
- Direct experience with scheduling.
- Experience managing multiple calendars with Office 365.
- Experience managing multiple competing priorities across executives.
