Honors College Student Life Coordinator
The Honors College is an integral part of the University of Oklahoma, providing a supportive and challenging academic program for intellectually motivated undergraduate students. Our small college community seeks to inspire students to a lifetime of broad intellectual curiosity and continuing self-sustained inquiry and personal growth by offering enriching interdisciplinary curriculum and diverse programs.
The Honors College Student Life Coordinator is a critical component to the success of the college, overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of designated student programs and services for the Honors College.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversees the overall administrative operations and delivery of non-academic student programs and services, working closely with the Honors College Dean to assess the needs of students.
- Plans new student program development, conducting needs assessment and evaluating program effectiveness.
- Manages day-to-day student programming operations; resolves problems as needed.
- Conducts presentations, workshops, or other special programs for students.
- Plans and coordinates activities, events, or special projects associated with student programs, including performing associated administrative functions.
- Collects, maintains, and analyzes various forms of program information and data. Prepares reports or responses to inquiries.
- Serves as the main point of contact for Honors College Living Learning Community for Honors students.
- Acts as chief liaison for offices of Student Affairs and Residential Life.
- Provides information and counseling to students, facilitating support groups, and advising student organizations.
- Advises and mentors Honors Student Association and other Honors student organizations including leadership training, professional communication, and after-hours support with events.
- Acts as liaison to Student Affairs Administrative office regarding registered student organizations and monitoring website.
- Manages community service opportunities for students and coordinates with Associate Dean on service-learning course opportunities.
- Builds and fosters communication with alumni network coordinating closely with the Dean and Associate Dean.
- Manage associated data, events, and activities.
- Provides budgetary oversight for the area of student programming in collaboration with financial staff.
- May represent the College as needed at university events.
- Management of Honors student achievement awards in coordination with Dean and financial staff.
- May supervise graduate student assistant(s).
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in related field AND 36 months in student programming, student services, or closely related experience.
Equivalence/Substitution: Will accept 48 months similar or related experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree, for a total of 84 months experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Composition and proofreading skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases.
- Detail-oriented for accuracy of data and information.
- Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff.
- Demonstrates ability to learn, interpret, and articulate complex policies and procedures.
- Willingness to work independently, collaboratively, and under supervision.
Advertised Physical Requirements: Sitting for long periods of time. Frequent talking. Ability to engage in repetitive motion. Ability to bend, lift, stoop, and carry. Standard office environment. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Requires contact with other colleges and areas of university.
Department Preferences: Preferred experience and demonstrated commitment to community outreach activities and/or student program building. Experience working with students and faculty. Experience and interest in event coordination. Experience with Zoom.
Supervision: Possible Student Assistant or Graduate Assistant.
