POSITION DETAILS
The Program Specialist for Healthcare Career Pathways supports the coordination, implementation, and expansion of a growing portfolio of non-degree healthcare credential programs within the department of Workforce Development and Continuing Education (WDCE) in the Office of Academic Affairs at Bronx Community College. Reporting to the Director of Healthcare Career Pathways, the Academic Program Specialist will play a key role in supporting and expanding Bronx Community College’s unique non-degree course offerings for healthcare professions. This position will support day-to day operations, coordinate program planning, monitor student progress, facilitate communication between faculty and students, and assist in growing partnerships with healthcare employers and clinical affiliates. The Academic Program Specialist participates in the daily academic and administrative operations of healthcare credential programs, supporting effective program rollout and delivery.
About Workforce Development and Continuing Education (WDCE)
WDCE’s mission is to provide all BCC students-degree and non-degree-with the skills they need to land jobs in their field of study. We do this by offering low- and no-cost training and certifications for community members and BCC students in high-demand sectors. Currently, healthcare is WDCE’s largest and fastest-growing portfolio, encompassing training programs that lead directly to entry-level jobs in the field, continuing education for experienced professionals and students, and advanced certificates, and contracted training with employers. We are a front-door for employers to BCC, ensuring degree and training programs are responsive to employer demand and employers see BCC as a go-to source of talent. Within this context, the Program Specialist contributes to the implementation and ongoing refinement of healthcare credential offerings to ensure alignment with employer needs and workforce demand.
This new role will be pivotal in the launch and scaling of existing and new credential offerings in the healthcare portfolio. It is an exciting opportunity to provide project management capabilities to a fast-paced, motivated team that works daily with students, employers, and faculty. The Program Specialist supports instructional delivery and program quality by working collaboratively with faculty and program leadership to ensure alignment with credential requirements and program outcomes. A successful Program Specialist will have strong project management and organizational skills, a proactive mentality, readiness to take initiative, and the ability to work collaboratively in an environment serving both students and employers. The role also supports outreach, employer engagement, and program visibility efforts in collaboration with Workforce Development and Continuing Education staff. This specialist will also oversee full-time and part administrative assistants and coordinators. In this capacity, the Program Specialist may provide day-to-day work coordination for assigned administrative staff supporting healthcare programs and performs related duties as assigned.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Coordinate day-to-day administrative and operational activities for non-degree healthcare training programs to support effective program rollout and delivery, such as budget, purchasing, instructor onboarding, data collection, and reporting
- Assist with scheduling and coordination of classroom, online, and clinical components in collaboration with faculty and program leadership.
- Serve as a liaison among students, instructors, advisors, and the Director of Healthcare Career Pathways to facilitate communication and resolve routine program-related issues.
- Support instructors in aligning course materials, curriculum updates, and instructional activities with program outcomes and certification or examination requirements.
- Create reports on programs’ progress and outcomes, including student participation, evaluations, surveys, and assessment results.
- Monitor student progress toward program completion and certification and assist with follow-up and documentation as needed.
- Support the development and maintenance of relationships with healthcare employers and clinical affiliates by assisting with outreach and coordination activities.
- Assist in identifying new program opportunities by gathering and reviewing workforce and labor market information relevant to healthcare training needs.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, data summaries, and presentations related to program outcomes, enrollment, and workforce impact.
- Support marketing, recruitment, and outreach efforts for Allied Health and healthcare credential programs in collaboration with WDCE staff.
- Provide day-to-day oversight and work coordination for assigned full-time and part-time administrative staff supporting healthcare programs, as appropriate.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in program or project management.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and analyze program data, surveys, and market trends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management tools.
- Commitment to student success and continuous improvement.
- Experience working in a higher education or public sector setting preferred.

Participates in the daily coordination of academic and administrative activities of a College's specialized academic program under management direction.
- Supports program development, student service delivery, outcome evaluation and instructor/student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.
- Recommends, implements and evaluates strategies to expand program offerings
- Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management
- Develops and maintains relationships with various College offices to improve student and faculty services
- Serves as resource expert regarding program policies and procedures
- Oversees office recordkeeping; manages updates of program web and print materials
- May supervise office operations and/or department budget

Salary commensurate with education and experience: $82,663.00 - $86,741.00
