About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Injury Management Advisor to join our team and provide professional advice on injury management, early intervention strategies, workers compensation and claims management processes, and accountabilities to line managers and staff.

Our ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently consult and liaise sensitively and constructively with stakeholders to promote a strong culture.

This position combines responsibilities in both injury management and claims management.

Role Requirements:

  • Act as the University’s subject matter expert in injury management and workers’ compensation.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and University policies.
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims and processing and act as liaison with insurers and WorkCover WA.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records while coordinating compensation payments, including wage reimbursements, with the Payroll team.
  • Facilitate early intervention and return-to-work programs promoting recover at work principles.
  • Support injured employees and line managers with timely medical treatment and workplace adjustments.
  • Collaborate with medical practitioners, allied health providers, and Health and Safety teams to achieve sustainable return-to-work outcomes.
  • Coordinate case conferences, assess medical advice, and monitor insurer performance.
  • Deliver training to promote consistent injury management practices across the University.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and undertake other duties as required.

Who we are looking for/Selection Criteria:

You will be motivated, engaged, and have a “hands on” approach to drive positive outcomes for the employee and organisation with:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Claims and Injury Management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the WA Workers Compensation & Injury Management Act
  • Experience with claims processing, including wages, financial and insurer responses
  • Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Proven ability to demonstrate resilience in managing challenging scenarios
  • Developed time management skills with the ability to work autonomously in a complex environment
  • High level of computer literacy and software proficiency

Desirable

  • Previous experience with Insurers
  • Degree/Diploma in health-related allied or discipline

Role Requirements:

  1. As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
