About the Team: The SMS Developer sits within Digital and Campus Services (DCS), a group dedicated to delivering modern, customer‑centric technology solutions that enhance the experience of students, staff, and the wider VU community. The role works closely with the Student Experience Domain, collaborating with developers, analysts, infrastructure, network, architecture, and security teams to support and improve the TechnologyOne Student Management System. DCS is focused on service excellence, digital transformation, innovation, and continuous improvement—driving high‑quality outcomes across VU’s application, data, infrastructure, and digital solution environments
About the Role:
The SMS Developer plays a vital role in delivering and supporting high‑quality technical solutions for Victoria University’s TechnologyOne Student Management System, responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining complex applications, interfaces, reports, and workflows that enhance the student experience. The role provides production support, troubleshoots technical incidents, contributes to continuous improvement, and collaborates closely with developers, analysts, infrastructure, security, and vendor partners to ensure reliable, efficient, and student‑centric system operations
Position Key Duties
Analyse functional specifications, design solutions, and develop complex application software aligned with VU’s information system requirements.
Provide production support by identifying root causes and resolving technical incidents.
Prepare and maintain clear technical and testing documentation to support system stability and continuity.
Offer technical consultation to support the scoping and assessment of change initiatives.
Contribute to continuous improvement activities across policies, procedures, and processes within the Student Experience Domain.
Liaise with external vendors to report, investigate, and resolve technical issues.
Collaborate with other DCS teams to ensure consistent, high‑quality technical advice and alignment with standards.
Adhere to and promote University OHS, sustainability, and inclusion practices in line with VU’s values and Protecting Country initiatives.
Salary: HEP 7 - $101,288 - $109,639 – Plus 17% Super
Employment Type: Full Time – Ongoing
Hours: 36.75/1 FTE
Location: Footscray Park Campus – 3 days on site.

About You: You are an experienced and solutions‑focused developer with deep knowledge of TechnologyOne’s architecture, configuration, and customisation capabilities, bringing strong skills in SQL, Java, JavaScript, PL/SQL and/or .NET to design, build, and support high‑quality system enhancements. You excel at developing ETLs, workflows, integrations, and reports, and you are confident working in cloud‑based StudentOne environments. A natural collaborator, you work effectively with analysts, technical teams, vendors, and business stakeholders, balancing multiple priorities while producing clear and comprehensive technical documentation. You bring strong problem‑solving skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to work autonomously, while demonstrating professionalism, communication excellence, and a commitment to inclusive, safe, and values‑driven workplace practices
