Job Description:
The Department of Teacher Education at Weber State University invites applications for an on-campus instructor position in the AAQEP-accredited special education programs at the associate, bachelor, and graduate levels. Successful candidates will have experience in practice and teaching with children in PreK-12 special education.
NOTE: Instructor positions are temporary appointments renewable annually by separate contract at the sole discretion of the University. After a successful first-year review, this position may be renewed for up to three years at a time.
Job Duties:
The instructor will teach 15 credit hours per semester, supervise elementary and special education field experiences, mentor and coach undergraduate SPED students.
Required Qualifications:
- Masters degree in education or related field.
- BA or BS in Special Education. Or a BA or BS in another related field with a post-baccalaureate in special education.
- Current or previously held teaching license, or meet the requirements for obtaining one.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience teaching in a special education classroom.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in special education.
- Graduate-level special education coursework.
- Expertise in special education law.
- Expertise in IEP development and transition planning.
- Expertise in special education assessment.
- Experience in face-to-face and online university teaching.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and/or supervising and teaching adults.
- Demonstrated commitment to advocating for youths with special needs.
- Experience with the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) standards for professional preparation and accreditation systems.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
