SUMMARY
The Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education (KSSPE) at SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science to begin August 2026. The Department of KSSPE maintains the largest student enrollment on campus and houses four undergraduate majors (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, and Sport Management). The Exercise Science Major has experienced significant student growth due to its commitment to quality teaching, laboratory-based learning, and consistent scholarship. JOB FUNCTIONS
Teaching (50%):
- Expected 3-3 course load
- Teaches undergraduate courses in the area of exercise science
- Provides quality student advisement
Scholarly Activity (30%):
- Publishes peer-reviewed articles in national or international journals, delivers professional presentations at regional and national conferences, and engages in other scholarly activities
Service (20%):
- Engages in enrollment and retention initiatives as appropriate
- Provides service to the Department, University, Community, and Profession
- Contributes to the maintenance of our dual accreditations with CAAHEP and CASCE
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate degree in exercise science/exercise physiology or related field from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college. ABD candidates will be considered, but must earn their doctoral degree within six months of hire.
- The ability to teach lecture and laboratory courses in the Exercise Science Major
- The ability to provide a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
- The ability to provide quality mentorship to undergraduate students
- The ability to develop and maintain an active research agenda
- The ability to provide service to the university community
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous college level teaching experience
- Previous record of publications
- Previous record of scholarly presentations
- Current NSCA CSCS certification
