Job Summary
This is a full-time, 12 month position, which reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs. The Director will be responsible for coordinating and planning program activities throughout the year to ensure compliance with program regulations and AMSC policies and procedures; prepare and submit all necessary documents to the U.S. Department of Education; arrange and enter into agreements for delivery of services; recruit, identify, screen and select eligible students; design and implement a comprehensive evaluation plan; develop and manage annual budget; develop marketing plan to advertise program's purpose and services to students, faculty and staff; recruit, screen, select and recommend staff to be hired; supervise staff; assist in providing workshops for participants; establish policies and procedures for the program; authorize expenditures of federal funds and monitor budget frequently; evaluate the program, participants and staff annually; assure that all program goals and objectives are met; and performs other related duties as required.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and plan program activities throughout the year to ensure compliance with program regulations and AMSC policies and procedures.
- Prepare documents to the U.S. Department of Education.
- Arrange agreements for delivery of services.
- Develop and manage annual budget.
- Establish policies and procedures for the program.
- Authorize expenditures of federal funds and monitor budget.
- Evaluate the program, participants and staff annually.
- Assure that all program goals and objectives are met.
- Recruit, identify, screen and select eligible students; design and implement a comprehensive evaluation plan.
- Develop marketing plan to advertise program's purpose and services to students, faculty and staff; recruit, screen, select and recommend staff.
- Supervise staff; assist in providing workshops for participants.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Educational Management, Educational Administration, Psychology, Science, Mathematics, or a field closely related field
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an educational program, with experience in designing, managing, or implementing projects to support student success with specified populations.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications: A Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Educational Management, Educational Administration, Psychology, Science, Mathematics or a field closely related to the purposes of the SSS-STEM program. Minimum of three (3) years' experience in an educational program with experience in designing, managing, or implementing similar projects working with low-income, first-generation college students or disabled persons. Experience in program planning and development and working with faculty, administrators and staff. Knowledge of higher education admissions and financial aid policies. Excellent supervisory skills, communication and interpersonal skills. Preference given to candidates with Master's degree in a scientific discipline, 5-7 years' experience working with students pursuing a STEM career, TRiO experience, or candidates who have succeeded in overcoming similar barriers as the SSS-STEM students.
Proposed Salary
The salary is grant-funded and commensurate with qualifications and experience within the budgetary parameters of the college and of the University System of Georgia. This is a supervisory position. This position does not have any financial responsibilities. This position will not be required to drive. This role is not considered a position of trust.
