Educator, Hall of Human Origins Lab Lead Facilitator (Part-Time)
The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, with a mission to discover, interpret, and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe through research, education, and exhibition.
The Hall of Human Origins Educational Laboratory is a functioning research lab that explores who we are, where we came from, and what it means to be human. The Education team is seeking a part-time Educator to provide facilitated experiences for families and visitors.
Job duties include:
- Leading facilitated experiences for the general public on weekends.
- Modeling facilitation practices and providing coaching to teaching assistants, interns, and volunteers.
- Teaching curriculum-based sessions for middle and high school groups.
- Maintaining visitation data and addressing customer service concerns.
- Developing enhanced activities on human evolution, neuroscience, and human health.
- Testing and developing NGSS-aligned curricula.
- Supporting maintenance of lab exhibits and equipment.
- Managing communications on maintenance and staffing needs.
Required qualifications include maintaining availability to work weekends. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in anthropology, neuroscience, or human health field, and experience working with interns and volunteers.
The expected salary is $38.54/hour. This position is overtime-eligible.
