Position overview

Student Integrity administers policies and legislation in relation to student conduct, appeals, and academic integrity.

The Manager, Student Conduct and Appeals provides operational leadership and strategic oversight to ensure the effective delivery of services in these areas. This includes maintaining compliance with University legislation and national regulatory requirements, managing statutory reporting obligations, and ensuring that complaints, appeals, and integrity processes are fair, transparent, and consistent. The role involves providing high-level advice to senior stakeholders, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and managing a team to deliver high-quality, student focused services.

The successful candidate will be expected to handle, manage and oversee complex and sensitive cases, applying sound judgement and a strong understanding of relevant policy and legislative frameworks. They will play a key role in mitigating risk, safeguarding student wellbeing, and ensuring the University meets its compliance obligations while fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an experienced leader with a strong background in governance, compliance, and complex case management within a higher education or similar regulatory environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in policy, legal compliance, investigations, complaint-handling and appeals management.
  • High-level organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex legislation and policy frameworks.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and influence outcomes on sensitive matters.
  • A commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practices when managing (mis)conduct and behavioural issues.
  • Experience in case handling of gender-based violence matters, including understanding, management and monitoring of associated risks.
  • A sound understanding of the impacts of vicarious trauma, and a commitment to proactive, early and ongoing staff engagement and support.

Experience conducting investigations in a regulatory or tertiary environment will be highly regarded.

Postgraduate qualifications or a combination of relevant qualifications and professional experience will also be highly regarded.
