Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The VITALS Resident Counselor (RC) supports scholars living in the residence hall during the weekend portions of the VITALS program by providing supervision, mentorship, and community engagement opportunities that foster a safe, supportive, and positive residential experience.
The RC serves as an onsite presence throughout the assigned weekend, helping monitor scholar well-being, maintain accountability, and uphold residence hall expectations and program policies.
Responsibilities include: planning and facilitating recreational, social, and community building activities between academic programming sessions, conducting curfew check offs, maintaining attendance and curfew documentation, and responding appropriately to student concerns, behavioral issues, or emergencies while escalating matters as needed. The RC also serves as a positive role model for scholars and communicates regularly with program leadership regarding scholar participation, residential operations, and any incidents or concerns that arise throughout the weekend experience.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Previous experience working with Summer Bridge programs.
Required Certifications or Licensure
CPR
Work Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm
Work Days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Hours Per Week: 40
Anticipated Hiring Range: $16/ hour
