UX Designer
About This Opportunity
Are you a UX visionary who thrives on solving complex design challenges and advocating for user needs? Join UQ’s Marketing and Communication team and help us create intuitive, inclusive, and impactful digital experiences for our diverse community.
As a UX Designer at The University of Queensland, you’ll play a pivotal role in enhancing the usability and accessibility of UQ’s websites. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional digital teams and internal stakeholders to deliver user-centred solutions that support Future Students, Current Students, Researchers, Alumni, and Staff.
This is a hands-on role where your creativity and strategic thinking will shape user journeys, wireframes, and prototypes that make a real difference. You’ll lead UX design initiatives, conduct user research, and champion best practices in a dynamic, business-as-usual environment.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Leading UX design for digital initiatives, including user journeys, flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes.
- Conducting or supporting user research and usability testing to validate design decisions.
- Collaborating with UI designers, content designers, developers, and other digital specialists.
- Engaging with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into user-focused solutions.

About You
You’re a confident and creative UX professional with:
- Demonstrated experience in UX design and a strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end UX processes.
- A degree in design, marketing, business or a related field with at least four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in tools such as Figma, User Testing, Miro, or similar.
- A commitment to UQ’s values of Creativity, Excellence, Truth, Integrity, Courage, Respect, and Inclusivity.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia.
