Job Overview
The Department of Anthropology at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for a fulltime Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning August 15, 2025. The duties of this position include teaching bioanthropology and archaeology courses, student mentoring, and contributing to the University’s NAGPRA consultation and documentation process. We are particularly interested in a scholar with experience with NAGPRA compliance, consultation, project management, and collaborative engagement with tribal and community partners. This is a 12-month position with the potential for renewal for a second year.
Essential Functions
The successful candidate will teach 4 courses per year, including a large introductory bioanthropology class and other courses to be determined in consultation with the selected candidate. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will also contribute to management of NAGPRA consultation, documentation, and repatriation, which occur year-round.
Required Education
Candidates with a Ph.D. in Anthropology or related fields in-hand by the time of appointment are preferred, but ABDs will be considered.
