The Department of Film and Media at Emory University in Atlanta, GA invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Film and Media Production with an emphasis in Sound Design. Appointment begins August 2026. The successful applicant will join a growing and dynamic undergraduate program in a Tier 1 research university. Atlanta has been ranked as the third largest center for the creation of feature films and television in the United States.

The successful candidate must have a film and video production M.F.A. degree in hand, an established record of creative activity in some aspect of sound, a commitment to diversity, and preferably at least two years of undergraduate teaching experience. In addition to maintaining an active creative/research agenda and participating in service to the department, the candidate will be expected to teach classes in our core filmmaking curriculum, (including Introduction to Media Production), as well as add new classes in production sound mixing and audio postproduction including sound design, foley, ADR, and mixing. Applicant should be familiar with a suite of digital technology (e.g. ProTools, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition). The candidate will also be expected to effectively mentor individual students, support a growing film and media production minor, and understand a production curriculum within a liberal arts context that integrates filmmaking and critical studies.
