Why Your Role Matters
The Lead, Student & Partner Engagement provides portfolio-wide leadership within the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Student Success, Engagement & Student Experience portfolio, driving initiatives that enhance student wellbeing, belonging, engagement and academic success.
The role leads evidence-informed student engagement, community building and wellbeing programs, building strong partnerships across health, community, industry and student networks. A key focus is delivering a cohesive approach to student communication, partner engagement and evaluation, using data and sector insights to inform priorities and improve outcomes.
Reporting to the Director, Engagement & Student Success, the role leads a small team and works closely with faculties, divisions and student groups to ensure alignment and impact across the portfolio. Key Accountabilities include:
- Lead the design, delivery and evaluation of student engagement, belonging wellbeing, and capacity building initiatives aligned with legislative and policy requirements
- Monitor policy, legislative and sector trends affecting student success and provide strategic advice to inform portfolio priorities
- Develop consistent, brand-aligned communication and engagement strategies that amplify student voice, impact and partner contribution
- Coordinate student engagement initiatives, including grants, events and student-led activities, ensuring inclusive and equitable participation
- Establish success measures, data collection and reporting frameworks to track impact and drive continuous improvement
- Foster strong relationships with student organisations, representative bodies and student experience networks
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with external stakeholders across health, community, industry and government sectors
- Support governance and reporting of student voice through relevant committees and communities of practice
Who you are
- Significant experience in a tertiary education or youth-focused environment, delivering engagement, community building, or capacity building programs to diverse student populations, including domestic and international cohorts
- An understanding of the evolving challenges affecting student engagement, wellbeing and success
- Demonstrated ability to navigate changing policy and legislative environments, translating requirements into strategic and operational initiatives
- Proven leadership and people management capability, with experience motivating, coaching and developing teams while fostering collaboration and resolving conflict effectively
- Highly developed communication skills, with experience preparing persuasive presentations and reports for diverse audiences, including senior governance bodies and external partners
- Demonstrated success in establishing evaluation and review frameworks, using data-informed insights to influence decision-making and drive meaningful change
- A strong track record of problem-solving, creativity and adaptability, including the ability to build consensus, manage complexity and resolve competing priorities
This is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid and flexible working arrangements, Monday to Friday. Please note, this role is not eligible for sponsorship.
